Provide First Aid & CPR Online Course
HLTAID011 Provide First Aid is a nationally accredited course available to the general public and In many industries such as security, is mandatory to maintain a current first aid certificate.
There are no pre-requisites for this first aid course, except a minimum age of 14 years, so it is perfect for people that have never completed first aid training before.
HLTAID009 Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) provides students with the theoretical knowledge and practical skills required to respond to breathing and cardiac emergencies.
HLTAID009 is a nationally accredited course available to the general public and is recommended to be renewed every 1 years.
Participants assessed as being competent in this course will receive a Statement of Attainment in both HLTAID011 Provide first aid and HLTAID009 Provide CPR.
Course Information
HLTAID009 & HLTAID011
This First Aid course is ideal for anyone that may be required to respond to an accident or injury and is required to provide first aid, e.g. working in hospitality, construction, healthcare, childcare, job sites, offices or the security industry.
This course incorporates both Provide First Aid HLTAID011 and Provide CPR HLTAID009. The course includes a nationally accredited certificate which will be valid for three years. However, the Australian Resuscitation Council recommends that you attend a CPR refresher after 12 months.
HLTAID011 Provide First Aid is the minimum requirement for workplace first aid compliance.
This is a blended course with self-paced online learning (e-Learning) and face-to-face training.
Completing this course will help you gain the required skills and knowledge to respond to a first aid emergency including:
- Recognise and assess an emergency situation
- Ensure safety for self, bystanders, and casualty
- Seek assistance from emergency services
- Perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) in line with Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) guidelines
- Provide first aid in accordance with established first aid principles
- Manage the casualty in a respectful manner
- Obtain consent from casualty where possible
- Use available resources and equipment to make the casualty as comfortable as possible
- Operate first aid equipment according to manufacturers’ instructions
- Monitor the condition of the casualty and respond in accordance with first aid principles
- Accurately convey incident details to emergency services
- Report details of incidents in line with appropriate workplace or site procedures
- Complete applicable workplace or site documentation, including incident report form
- Maintain privacy and confidentiality of information in line with statutory or organisational policies
- Recognise the possible psychological impacts on self and other rescuers and seek help when required
- Contribute to a review of the first aid response as required
Entry Requirements
To complete this course you must be able to:
- Complete the online course enrolment
- Provide a USI (usi.gov.au)
- Provide identification documents (including photo ID) to be sighted prior to course commencement
- Have the physical capacity to perform the practical demonstrations. i.e., such as 2 minutes of uninterrupted CPR on the floor.
Course Structure
This course requires both self-study and in class training and assessment.
- The self-study component requires you to log into our online interactive learning portal and complete the required assessment. You should allow between 2 to 4 hours to complete this component.
- In-class training and assessment consists of up to 4 hours attendance at our training centre. The online self-study and assessment must be completed prior attending our training centre.
Course Outcome
Upon completing this training program, you will receive a Statement of Attainment.
It is recommended that renewal of this Provide First Aid certificate is undertaken every 3 years, with the additional requirement of updating the CPR component every 12 months.

Refund Policy
Learners who give notice to cancel their enrolment seven (7) days or more prior to the commencement of a program, will be entitled to a refund of fees paid less bank transaction and administration fees (10% of course cost).
Learners who give notice to cancel their enrolment less than seven (7) days but not within 48 hours of course commencement will be entitled to a 50% refund of fees paid. The amount retained by Spectral Training is required to cover the costs of staff and resources which will have already been committed based on the learners’ initial intention to undertake the training.
Learners who cancel their enrolment within 48 hours of course commencement or less will not be entitled to a refund of fees.
Learners who have previously requested a course to be rescheduled and wish to cancel the same course at a later stage, will not be entitled to refund of fees.
If Spectral Training cancel a course at any time, participants will be offered the option to reschedule to an alternative class (at no extra cost) or receive a full refund of the course fees. No additional monies will be reimbursed to the participant for any other expenses incurred, or inconvenience caused.
If a refund is approved, funds will be made by the same means with which the original payment was made (i.e. EFTPOS payment would result in an EFTPOS refund) and will be made to the same person that made payment. If a third party paid the course fee, the third party will be refunded the course fee.
Certificates cannot be issued until all AVETMISS and USI information has been confirmed (where required) and all course paperwork requirements have been completed.
Cancellation
Learners who cancel their enrolment part way through a training program must notify Spectral Training in writing via email or letter at the earliest opportunity. Learners who cancel their enrolment after a training program has commenced will not be entitled to a refund of fees. Learners are advised to consider alternative options such as requesting to suspend their enrolment and re-commencing in another scheduled training program.
Rescheduling
Requests for transfers to alternate courses can be arranged if advised in writing more than 48 hours prior to the course commencement date and subject to availability. One transfer will be accepted without charge. All subsequent transfers will attract an administration charge of $55.00 if notice is provided. No rescheduling of a course is available within 48 hours of commencement.
